Catholic Mass celebrated upstairs on the feast of the birthday of St John The Baptist in 2019 [24 June] the first time since 1539 when King Henry VIII suppressed the Catholic Faith in England.

Ancient (circa 1400 AD) Gatehouse to long since destroyed Abbey. Abbott Thomas Beche was executed by Henry VIII. Room inside Gateway is open on English Heritage weekends each year.
